On the Hop

The Blues have not had the most productive of seasons but there will be nothing short of a rock solid performance at their home ground waiting for the Kangaroos and any thoughts of a foregone conclusion on the games would be very foolish.

This Saturday will also be a milestone for one of the club’s favourite son’s, Adam Reid as he plays his 150th senior game for the ‘Roos.

Reid has had a very consistent season to date and Coach Mark Kruger paid credit to him after last Saturday’s game against the Northern Jets.

Reid’s older brother and former coach Daniel also looked very much at home last Saturday across the half-back line and stated he was “very happy to be back in the ‘Roos camp”.

Daniel will be there again this weekend giving full support to his brother’s milestone game.

Luke Gerhard will be rested this Saturday to cure a niggling injury, while Michael Oliver will also take to the sideline complaining from a back strain which occurred in last-week’s match. Jake Barrett will again be away playing in the NSW/ACT Rams side against Queensland.

A new player to Temora’s ranks is Daniel Bourke who has come from the Northern Football League (NFL) in Victoria.

Bourke has very direct connections to the Kangaroos being the great nephew of club legends Peter and Jim Richardson and a cousin to former coach Gary Richardson. Daniel will be a welcome addition to the Kangaroos’ playing ranks.

The win last Saturday for Temora places the first grade in second place on percentage, with equal premiership points with the Northern Jets.

With The Rock-Yerong Creek losing to Marrar last week, this has edged Temora a game closer to leadership on the ladder and the games against Marrar at Nixon Park on June 29 and Charles Sturt University at Bushpig Park on July 6 will set the Kangaroos up for a major grand final replay against The Rock-Yerong Creek at home on July 13.

Results of these games will give a very good indication of their standing in the competition.

The Under 17s will host Mangoplah at Nixon Park this Saturday and will be in need of a strong performance to reverse last week’s trouncing from Turvey Park.

Coach Rick Pratt put his players through a solid workout at Tuesday night’s training session.

After a successful sponsor’s day last Saturday, the Kangaroos are making plans for their Annual Ball on July 13 to be held at the Temora Town Hall.

There will also be a supporters and players bus leaving from the Terminus Hotel at 7:15am on Saturday to arrive in time for the C Grade netball game at 10:30am.
