AFL Wheelchair

In partnership with Wheelchair Sports NSW, AFL NSW/ACT is able to provide opportunities for people to play a modified version of our game in AFL Wheelchair. AFL Wheelchair follows the same scoring system as the AFL with modified rules around how to move the footy around and score points.

AFL Wheelchair is played on a basketball court and AFL NSW/ACT is proud to promote 4 x AFL Wheelchair Training Hubs which are available for anyone to participate in. See below details for the 2024 AFL Wheelchair Training Hubs

  • Bankstown – running on Tuesday evenings from 7:30pm – 9:00pm at Bankstown Basketball Stadium
  • Canberra – running on Tuesday evenings from 5:30pm – 7:00pm at Tuggeranong Archery Club
  • Wagga – running on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at Bolton Park Stadium
  • Wollongong – running on Monday evenings from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at Illawarra Hockey Stadium

These training hubs will then provide players with the opportunity to then compete in 3 x Club Challenges which will bring all hubs together to play competitive matches in a round robin style format. See below the details for the 2024 Club Challenges:

  • Club Challenge 1 (Canberra) – Saturday 13th April from 12:30pm – 4:30pm at the AIS Basketball and Netball Stadium
  • Club Challenge 2 (Sydney) – Saturday 22nd June from 9:00am – 1:00pm at The Y Ryde Community Centre
  • Club Challenge 3 (Canberra) – Saturday 24th August from 10:00am – 2:00pm at the AIS Basketball and Netball Stadium

These Club Challenges will act as selection trials for our NSW/ACT Rolling Rams team to be taken to compete in the 2024 Nation Wheelchair Championships.
