Gameplay
What is the difference between NAB AFL Auskick and Junior Football?
NAB AFL Auskick is our flagship introduction program where participants will learn the basic skills of AFL through a fun and interactive environment. This may through 1 x weekly sessions or with a weekly session and a modified game.
Junior football is the next step along the AFL pathway where participants learn more advanced skills, train and play a match against another club each week. Junior competitions also involve travelling to other junior clubs to play matches, where most Auskick programs are typically based at one venue.
What are the typical rules?
The rules will alter depending on your local league and age group. Most rules include modified field sizes, reduced game time, reduced players per team and other scoring rules. All rules are built to support participants skill development and enjoyment of the game. Most age groups will have a modified tackle involved in their first age of junior football.
What skills learnt at NAB AFL Auskick are important in Junior Football
The basic skills that you learnt at your NAB AFL Auskick program will provide a great foundation for your child to advance into Junior Football including, marking, kicking, handballing, bouncing, teamwork and ball skills.
Equipment/Uniform required
What equipment would I need to play?
This will depend on your age group, typically you will need your own football boots, mouthguard and team uniforms with helmets optional.
