How do Returning Players Transfer Clubs

The 2022 season Transfer Period will open on February 1st and run through until June 30th. The transfer process will work the same as previous years, whereby when a transfer is requested it must go through a series of approvals before it is finalised (i.e. the Source Club/League and Destination Club/League all have to approve the transfer). A reminder that in accordance with the AFL National Player Registration and Transfer Regulations a transfer request will automatically approve after 6 calendar days.

Within the PlayHQ system there are two ways that player transfers can be lodged:

  1. Club initiated transfers (as per the old SportsTG process) and
  2. Player initiated transfers (new functionality in PlayHQ).

Player initiated transfer can be lodged by a player when they go to complete the registration form for their new Club. When completing the registration form, after the player sets up their PlayHQ account, enters their personal details and claims their old SportsTG profile, the PlayHQ system will automatically pick up that the player already exists in the system and is trying to register at a new Club. The player will then be directed to complete a player initiated transfer prior to being able to finalise their registration. Please note, the same Source Club/League and Destination Club/League approval process applies to both Club initiated and player initiated transfers (the player won’t be able to finalise their registration until all of the approvals have been completed, they will receive an email notification when the transfer has been fully approved inviting them to complete their registration).
