Young gun joins best in Broken Hill

Now playing his third year with the Port Macquarie Magpies, Dickson demonstrates that having courage and determination on the field play a big role in becoming a successful footballer.

The St Pauls High School student looks forward to competing against the state’s top footballers after being selected for the Combined Catholic College team for the NSW All-Schools Under-15s AFL Championships.

“It’s going to be awesome and it’s going to help me a lot playing with better players and getting to know new people,” Dickson said.

The Brisbane Lions fan believes the tournament will be a good experience both on and off the field.

Dickson’s father, Ian, is pleased with his son’s willpower, encouraging him to go out, keep having fun and do his best.

“He’s starting to reap the benefits now with all the academy training and it just shows that hard work pays off in the end,” he said.

“Me and my wife are really proud of him and wish him the best with all of his sport. “

The Championships will begin in Broken Hill on June 4-6.
