U18 RAMS announced for Melbourne

The Under-18 RAMS will finish their 2011 NAB AFL Championships campaign in Melbourne next week with two final games between Queensland and Northern Territory.

The RAMS will arrive in Melbourne later this week ahead of their state of origin clash against Queensland on Saturday before taking on Northern Territory next Thursday (July 7).

After a narrow loss last weekend, the RAMS will be keen to finish the championships on a high note as players get one last chance to impress before the NAB AFL Draft Camp later this year.

AFL NSW/ACT State Talent and Coaching Manager Darren Denneman said the final week of the championships will be beneficial to the players.

“All players have banded together to present themselves well during the NAB Nationals series. Improvement has been evident in each game that we have played,” Denneman said.

“Over the next seven days we have two final matches, training sessions, recovery and game reviews which will allow players to develop further as AFL footballers.

“For players to have 24 hour access to coaches and staff is invaluable for their growth and will help prepare them for potential life in the AFL.”

Only one change has been made to the side that travelled to Tasmania with Justin Gordon coming in for Nick Ryan.

The RAMS’ match against Queensland will be played on Saturday, July 2 at Visy Park at 2.15pm while their match against Northern Territory will be held at Skilled Stadium, Geelong at 2.10pm on July 7.
