Inaugural CBSA AFL competition kicks off

The Christian Brothers Sports Association (CBSA) kicked off their inaugural AFL competition on Thursday with games being played in Year 7/8 and 9/10 divisions. Schools competing are:

Holy Spirit, Lakemba
De LaSalle, Revesby
Rosebank College, Five Dock
St Marys Cathedral, Sydney
St Charbels College, Punchbowl
Casamir College, Marrickville
Marist College, Penshurst

Round one games saw the highly fancied schools of De LaSalle, Revesby and Holy Spirit, Lakemba face off for early competition bragging rights. The two contests that followed did not disappoint with both results coming down to less than a goal with some fantastic free flowing football and some unique displays of talent.

The CBSA competition has moved from Gala Day format in previous years to a weekly competition in 2010. The competition has also offered an umpiring course to educate and fast track any students wishing to get involved who may not be able to play. The competition will run each Thursday during Term 3 from 12:50 – 2:00 pm at Olds Park, Penshurst and the newly renovated Picken Oval, Croydon Park.
