– Mass participation of grass roots football contributes around $171.5 million to the economies of NSW and ACT annually.

– Total club participation in 2011 was 27,175.

– 237 clubs play in 13 Associations/Leagues across NSW and ACT.

– Each weekend 27,175 participants form 247 senior teams and 705 junior clubs take to the field to play AFL.

– 30% of club participants are in Southern NSW – this area spans from the Riverina region down to the border between NSW and Victoria.

– 95% of clubs are run by volunteers, showing how important passionate individuals are to the growth and sustainability of our sport in NSW and the ACT.

– The number of participants in club football has grown by 17 per cent since 2006.

– Five new clubs were established in 2011.

– 30% of NSW/ACT clubs are accredited “Quality Clubs” – a program that encourages clubs to earn a gold, silver or bronze ranking to benchmark their operations and administration.

– The 2012 Australian Country Football Championships will be held in Wagga Wagga in July. This will be the first year that NSW and the ACT combine to form a team to compete in this event.
