Celebrating Canberra’s National Multicultural Festival

Written by Leyla Kaya.

Last Sunday AFL NSW/ACT attended Canberra’s annual National Multicultural Festival, one of the biggest celebrations of cultural diversity across Australia.

A free and family-friendly event, the three day festival was a great success with activities, cultural shows, dancing and more than 400 stalls set up including AFL NSW/ACT.

There were plenty of giveaways including footballs, GIANTS drink bottles and a free raffle where entrants had the chance to win an AFL multicultural-themed Guernsey.

“The Multicultural Festival was such an uplifting event with people from all over the world coming together to celebrate diversity and embrace each other’s cultures.” AFL Diversity Development Officer Jessica Atoui said.

Boys and girls from diverse backgrounds in Canberra are  welcome to come along to free AFL sessions as part of the Multicultural Kick Around starting at 5pm on Friday 24 February at Kingston Oval. For more information, please contact Luke Martin: luke.martin@afl.com.au – 0413 249 983.
