AFL NSW/ACT appoints Northern NSW Manager

The Northern NSW AFL region encompasses 18 Councils including Greater Taree to the south, Walgett to the west and Clarence Valley & Inverell to the north.

McKelvie will be based in the Coffs Harbour office and lead the development team of Matthew Crawley (Development Coordinator – North Coast), Rachel Lowe (Development Coordinator – Mid North Coast) and Jason Sincock (Football Operations Coordinator – AFL North Coast competitions).

He will also oversee and work with the respective boards and delegates across the Tamworth AFL, AFL Mid North Coast Juniors and AFL North Coast Senior & Junior competitions.

McKelvie recently relocated to the region and has a strong passion for AFL after playing in Southern NSW & Victoria, including U19s for the Fitzroy Football Club; as well as being an active volunteer and coach at his local community AFL club in Geelong.

AFL NSW/ACT State Operating & Major Projects Manager, Joseph La Posta said McKelvie’s broad experience was a perfect fit for the role.

“Rob has excellent leadership credentials and over 20 years experience in senior management & CEO roles across a range of businesses,” La Posta said.

He has really impressed with his knowledge and willingness to improve the structures which exist within community football. He understands the need for sustainable growth in our market and the importance of recruitment and retention strategies throughout all of our AFL programs.”

“In 2013, AFL in Northern NSW will achieve close to 5000 participants throughout all of our programs and 1250 registered played in our clubs. Rob’s role is pivotal to growing our market share and connecting the work we continue to do in the school, Auskick and AFL9s’ space with our existing and future local club networks.”
