Neil Dunn: 2016 State Volunteer of the Year

Instrumental in creating the junior Tamworth AFL competition, Neil Dunn was awarded NSW/ACT state volunteer of the year.

In 2015, Neil engaged a number of interested parties to see the formation of a working group to create the junior Tamworth AFL competition.

Neil was a driving force in that group becoming a steering committee to create the 2016 junior competition, seeing four teams compete across the breadth of the local football community.

The new competition creates a number of pathways for talented local juniors to test themselves against a stronger quality of player and advance their footballing experience.

Regional Manager, Simon Smyth acknowledged Neil’s devotion and hard work to see the competition grow to over sixty local children across the four teams.

“Neil’s drive, energy and passion and his ability to bring people together has resulted in an outstanding outcome for the new junior competition in Tamworth AFL coming into fruition this year.

“The success of this competition will forever be the legacy of Neil’s and I consider myself lucky to have worked with him on this project.”

As winner of the State Volunteer of the Year, Neil has won two tickets to the 2016 Toyota AFL Grand Final, return flights and accommodation and the opportunity to walk in the Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade.
