Gulden eyeing senior opportunity in 2021

Former UNSW-ES Bulldog Errol Gulden is determined to make an impact for the Sydney Swans in 2021.

Gulden, a product of the QBE Sydney Swans Academy, was selected with pick 32 of the 2020 NAB AFL Draft after starring for the Swans Academy in the NAB League and impressing with the Allies in the Under-18 Championships in 2019.

A player’s first AFL pre-season is generally a tough and testing period, but Gulden says he’s thoroughly enjoying life at the elite level.

“I’m absolutely loving it,” Gulden said.

“Adapting to the intensity and workload of a professional footballer hasn’t been an easy task but being a part of the Sydney Swans is everything I wished for it to be and more.”

Gulden shared his excitement at being able to work alongside fellow QBE Sydney Swans Academy graduates Marc Sheather and Braeden Campbell, with the pair making the transition to life in the AFL easier.

“Having Marc and Braeden around me has been a huge help,” Gulden said.

“Being able to experience this journey together is really special and we’ve all thoroughly enjoyed it so far.”

Despite all the fun and excitement, Gulden has his sights set firmly on breaking into Sydney’s senior side in 2021.

“Playing senior footy is my goal this year and I believe I’ve got the tools required to play at the level,” Gulden said.

“There’s always going to be competition, you’re never going to get an easy run into the best 22 so I’ve certainly got a lot of work to do.”
