The Under 15 Girls Swans and GIANTS Cup was played out at Blacktown International Sportspark this week.

High School teams from across New South Wales and the ACT traveled to Sydney following months of competition between schools competing within the Sydney Swans and GWS GIANTS talent regions.

Schools taking part in the finals included Mount St. Joseph, Wagga Wagga High School, Bega High School, Xavier High School Albury, Wollongong High School, Thomas Hassall Anglican College and MacKillop College Bathurst.

In perfect football weather conditions, St Pius X High School from Adamstown near Newcastle, took on defending champions, St Francis de Sales Regional College of Leeton, in the final.

In a north of the region versus south of the region battle, the football lived up to the excitement of the day.

With St Francis leading at half time by just one-point, the match would come down to the final seconds.

Trailing by two points with one minute to go, St Pius made a break through the middle to take the football the length of the field, marking it in their forward-50, keeping crowds on their edge of their seats.

Unfortunately for St Pius, a behind was scored, leaving St Francis as victors by a solitary point.

The final of the Under 15 Boys Swans and GIANTS Cup will be played in Albury on 19-20 September 2017.
