St Clair the GIANTS of western Sydney

St Clair Junior AFL Club were the envy of all western Sydney AFL teams on the weekend of May 21/22 when they played on the hallowed turf of Blacktown Olympic Park prior to GWS GIANTS’ big win over Queanbeyan.

St Clair was given the honour of playing all of the curtain-raiser matches prior to the main GIANTS game and also got to meet and interact with some of the GWS players.

The club was able to achieve the experience courtesy of reaching their Silver Level accreditation as part of the AFL Quality Club program.

The AFL Quality Club Program helps community football clubs improve their administrative operations and overall club environment, which ultimately benefits all participants, coaches, spectators and volunteers.

On the day, five teams took to the field as well as young Auskickers.

St Clair president Allison Claxton said it was great day enjoyed by everyone at the club.

“Some of our junior players have never experienced playing on a professional field before so this was a really great opportunity for them and I know that these players were excited to be meeting the Giants,” Claxton said.

“The St Clair Crows is a family oriented club so it is great to be able to offer this opportuntiy to our players and their families.”
