A new era for female footy in Sydney’s west
It’s an exciting time for female footy in Sydney’s west with the inaugural Western Sydney Youth Girls Competition for U15s launching next Sunday (May 1) with a gala day at Blacktown International Sportpark.
All 11 teams involved in the fledgling competition will participate in the marquee event demonstrating the current popularity of women’s AFL.
Female AFL participation is booming in NSW and the ACT following the announcement of a new national women’s competition starting in 2017 and the first women’s game at the SCG between the Sydney Swans and GIANTS Academies.
The day’s not just about footy as well with a pampering marquee for parents and players and inflatables for the kids ensuring the season kicks-off in style.
The Western Sydney Youth Girls Competition will play games on Sundays following the launch event with the last round on August 14th and finals on August 21st.
