AFL appoints Katriina Heikkanen

AFL NSW/ACT is pleased to announce that Katriina Heikkanen has been appointed as the Indigenous Programs Manager, NSW/ACT. 

Katriina joins the AFL from the Australian Employment Covenant where she was NSW State Coordinator.  Prior to that, she was a Senior Contract Manager with the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).

Katriina has extensive experience working in Indigenous employment and education.

Katriina will be responsible for the development and management of Indigenous programs across NSW and the ACT with a focus on education, participation and talent outcomes.  This will include:

• Indigenous Academies in Western Sydney
• PaCE Centres throughout NSW
• “Learn Earn Legend” matches and promotions
• AFL Kickstart
• Work with the Swans and GWS Giants
• Support for national programs such as the Flying Boomerangs, AFL All Stars, AFL SportsReady, Qantas Kickstart and Footy Means Business

Katriina is a proud Aboriginal woman who was born and raised in Sydney with family from the Worimi and Dhungutti Nations on the Mid North Coast of NSW.
