$10,000 facility grants closing April 21

AFL NSW/ACT in partnership with the Joss Group are very pleased to announce the inaugural ‘Joss Group & AFL Community Facility Grants’ is now open for a limited time. Applications have been extended and now close on April 21. 

The grants have been designed to provide funding assistance to clubs who are looking to undertake worthwhile smaller facility improvements to enhance their club environment for the 2011 AFL season and beyond.

In 2011, there will be 10 grants of $10,000 available to community clubs across New South Wales and the ACT. $5,000 will be provided by the AFL and $5,000 will be provided by the Joss Group, a strong family owned regional company, who’ve been trading for over 35 years – www.jossgroup.com.au.

All clubs will need to complete the application form and ensure the below criteria have been met.

Criteria

  • Grants will only be awarded to clubs whose focus is to improve the physical environment of their training and/or match day venue. Such projects could include building alterations or additions; building refurbishment; sports field lighting; fencing; scoreboard; goal posts; interchange benches; storage; irrigation; drainage; synthetic and shock absorbing cricket wicket covers; behind the goal netting; etc. PLEASE NOTE: Grants proposing the purchase of stock, equipment or uniforms will not be approved as part of this initiative.
  • Clubs must secure a contribution equal to or greater than $10,000. This needs to include at least a $5,000 cash component. The remaining funds can be either cash or in-kind works.
  • The $5,000 cash can be provided by either the club(s) and/or local council and/or sponsorship.
  • Projects must have a minimum value of $20,000 (minimum $15,000 cash + in-kind) with a maximum total value of $80,000.
  • The club must be able to demonstrate written confirmation of funding as part of this application.
  • The club must also provide land owner’s consent confirming a) support for the proposed works; and b) that all relevant planning or building approvals have been obtained. Signed written confirmation from the land owner is to be submitted with the application
  • Clubs must be registered with the AFL Quality Club Program and be accredited with a minimum Bronze Level qualification ***.
  • Clubs are ineligible if they have received or have in-principle support for funding from the NSW/ACT FDR allocation
  • Projects timeframes must be provided and all projects must be completed by July 31st 2011

Process

Applications are now open. Completed applications are to be posted to the AFL NSW/ACT Facilities Department at PO Box 333 Strawberry Hills, 2012 NSW.

Applications must be received by close of business on the April 21, 2011.

Each
application form will then be registered with the AFL NSW/ACT Facilities Department and will receive a reference number. A return letter will be sent back to the club confirming receipt of their application and advise of the reference number.

All completed applications will be assessed and a shortlist provided to the NSW/ACT Facilities Committee. The committee will consult with the relevant regional manager and also the Joss Group, prior to approving any applications. The committee will select at least one successful application from each of the 7 AFL NSW/ACT regions with the successful grants to be announced in early May.

Any applications which do not satisfy all of the above criteria will be ineligible for funding support and will not be considered by the committee. PLEASE NOTE: It is the club’s responsibility to ensure that a completed application is submitted. The Facilities Department will not be responsible for chasing up clubs for additional information.
