Sydney Swans visit local clubs

The Sydney Swans playing group took part in football clinics at local junior AFL clubs across Sydney on Tuesday night.

The players visited Bangor, Heathcote, Penshurst, Ramgate, Mosman, St Ives, Pennant Hills, North Ryde, Glebe and Drummoyne.

“It was great to see the Swans players visiting clubs in Sydney,” said Simon Wilson, AFL NSW/ACT Manager – Sydney/Illawarra region.

“The local clubs definitely appreciate and value the elite AFL content being part of their training and events.”

The Swans joined in on a number of activities, including training with and meeting plenty of AFL juniors.

Rhyce Shaw, Lewis Jetta, Josh Kennedy, Harry Cunningham, Kieren Jack and Sam Reid were just some of the Swans stars that attended the event.

The Glebe Greyhounds were just one of the clubs who enjoyed a visit from the 2012 Premiers.

“We had the bulk of our juniors, about 120 who thought that it was really something special,” said Peter Gowers from Glebe Greyhounds.

The players enjoyed training drills, practicing basic ball skills and putting Sydney’s youth through their paces.

The event was a huge success despite the looming wet weather. The Swans players managed to spend time with every player present and there was even a BBQ before training.

After training finished the players addressed the children and their parents, introducing themselves and encouraging participation in clubs across Sydney.

The night concluded with questions from the audience, autograph signings, meet and greets with the Swans players and local club registrations.
