Sydney South Auskick party day

By Alison Zell

As the AFL season comes to a close and the finals race heats up, hundreds of Auskick kids celebrated the end of their own season at the annual end of year Auskick Party Day.

Sunday was a day of celebration as 250 Sydney South juniors descended on the Cronulla Sharks Junior AFL Club’s home ground, Gwawley Oval in Taren Point.

All the clubs in the area provided volunteers to help run the day with each club in charge of a different skills station, including goal kicking, an agility course, handball cubes, marking and bouncy castles.

Sydney Swans mascot ‘Cyggy’ was a hit with the kids and even tried some of the handball drills himself.

Mick Smith from Pensurst Panthers was awarded the 2012 Auskick Coordinator of the year and the Bangor Tigers took out the annual Auskick relay race.
