Swans vie for Red Nose record

More than four premiership points will be on the line when the Sydney Swans take on reigning premiers Collingwood at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night, June 25.

In support of Red Nose Day, the Swans are calling on all fans to help set a new World Record for the number of red noses worn in the one location.

The current record is 15,900, so the Swans are looking for at least 16,000 of the fans at ANZ Stadium on Saturday June 25 to don a red nose and help make history.

Swans defender Tadhg Kennelly said this year’s clash against Collingwood would hold extra significance.

“Every time you play Collingwood it’s a big game. They are the 2010 premiers and we are looking forward to the challenge against one of the competition’s best teams.

“This red nose world record attempt adds even more excitement to the big game, and we hope we can get as many people there as possible, cheering us on and wearing their red noses,” Kennelly said.

“It is all for a great cause, with Red Nose Day supporting the great work of SIDS and Kids.”

With Collingwood dominating recent meetings between the two teams, Kennelly said the Swans would need all the support they could get from a vocal home crowd.

“Collingwood have been a bogey team for us over the last five years and we will need as much support as possible at ANZ Stadium to help get us over the line,” he said.

“We want all those Collingwood fans that make their way to game to be greeted by a sea of red and white in the stands, and a red nose on every face.”

Fans are encouraged to pre-purchase their red noses for the big game, though they will also be available at the gate.

Friday June 24 is Red Nose Day which supports SIDS and Kids. SIDS and Kids is a well-respected national not-for-profit organisation with a highly successful history in health promotion, bereavement support, advocacy and research.

SIDS and Kids NSW supports families who have experienced the death of their baby or child during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood, through the provision of bereavement support, education, advocacy and the promotion of research.

Tickets for the match are available at Ticketek.
