Swans head to Coffs for pre-season

From January 29 to February 1, 2013 the entire Swans playing and coaching group will travel to Coffs Harbour for the first of two pre-season training camps.

For four days, the club will undertake an elite training program at Coffs Harbour’s first-class sporting facilities while a number of community events and activities will be planned around the visit.

In the past, other professional sporting teams have used Coffs Harbour’s elite facilities as the base to train and prepare for the upcoming season.

Sydney Swans chief executive Andrew Ireland said the partnership will provide great opportunities for both the Club and the community of Coffs Harbour.

“This is a terrific partnership for not only our football department but also for our supporters in Coffs Harbour and surrounding regions,” Ireland said.

“For the Club to get away for four days to train at Coffs Harbour’s elite sporting facilities and in a new environment will be a great way to mix up pre-season training.

“On top of the physical benefits the players will get out of the elite training program, the camp will also provide a great bonding exercise in the lead up to the 2013 AFL season.

“For our supporters in Coffs Harbour and Northern NSW, there will be a number of opportunities to meet and interact with the entire playing and coaching group at the community events we have planned for our visit.

“The Swans are looking forward to this new and exciting partnership with Coffs Harbour City Council and strengthening our ties with the local community.”

Members of the Coffs Harbour-based QBE Sydney Swans Academy will also get the exciting opportunity to meet the team while the Club is in the area.

A full itinerary of events where fans can meet the players and coaching staff will be detailed on
