Sunderland wins hearts on Grand Final
Lambton boy, Lochie Sunderland, was the envy of his friends when he participated in the 2014 Toyota AFL Grand Final, one of the biggest events on the Australian sporting calendar.
Lochie, a participant at the Newcastle NAB AFL Auskick centre, had the time of his life during a weekend of action packed activity. Lochie’s experience kicked off in style at the NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year Awards Dinner at the MCG where Geelong Captain and NAB Auskick ambassador, Joel Selwood, presented Lochie with his official NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year playing jumper.
Last Friday, Lochie, walked alongside fellow Auskickers and the two competing Toyota AFL Grand Final teams through the streets of Melbourne in the traditional Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade.
Grand Final Day was undoubtedly the highlight of the trip when Lochie played NAB AFL Auskick on the MCG in front of 100,000 fans at half-time of the big game. After the match Lochie, along with the other 21 NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year nominees, presented Hawthorn with their 2014 Premiership Medals.
“It was so exciting to play in front of so many people on the MCG, and getting to present a premiership medal to Luke Hodge with all my friends and family watching on TV was really cool too!” Lochie said.
Young Lochie’s opportunity to participate in this unforgettable three day Toyota AFL Grand Final experience came to life through NAB’s Auskicker of the Year competition.
