St Francis wins SportsReady Swans Cup

St Francis De Sales Regional College, Leeton has claimed their first ever SportsReady Swans Cup taking out the under-16 title in today’s final at Bruce Purser Reserve.

The victory was made even more special for the players with the game being played in Sydney’s west – the new home of Team GWS.

The 8.13.61 to 7.9.51 score-line was a reflection of a lot of hard work put in by the players, overcoming AFL powerhouse St Ignatius’ Riverview for the coveted Cup.

The AFL SportsReady Swans Cup is a state-wide competition for secondary schools.

With three divisions (U14, U16 and Opens) the competition has expanded rapidly to include in excess of 300 schools.

The competition has been developed to encourage secondary school students to experience and enjoy Australian Football.
