Girls

Mark Armstrong, teacher in charge of the victorious Erindale College said:

“Our AFLW team was absolutely thrilled to win the Senior Schools State Final.

“Our captain, Emily Vosnakes, who was unable to play due to injury, addressed the girls post the final game and commented on how far the group had come in recent years. She said she was extremely proud of the group who in 2023 were not close to winning the ACT Finals, let alone compete for the NSW Senior State Finals. I shared her pride in the group.

“Lavington was a great venue for the Finals and allowed teams from across the state to showcase their skills and determination. Barker, St Francis, Xavier and Mater Dei all had great teams.

“AFL for girls has progressed a long way in recent years and each year we see the quality of games increase. Many of our team will be eligible to play next year, and we excited to do our best to win the title again.

“Thanks to the AFL for running such a professional day. School footy needs the support of teachers, principals, local clubs and of course the players. Events like this justify the time and effort that players and coaches put into their teams.”
