Roger Moten, inaugural SUANFC NEAFL coach

Sydney University Sport and Fitness (SUSF) and Sydney University Australian National Football Club (SUANFC) are pleased to announce the appointment of Roger Moten as the University’s inaugural NEAFL Senior Coach for season 2012.

Over the past three seasons Moten has played an integral part in the development of Sydney University’s Australian Football talent. This has translated into on-field success, assisting the SUANFC to become a benchmark club in Sydney AFL.

In 2010, Moten led the club to the AFL Sydney Grand Final against East Coast Eagles.

Sydney University President Chas Wilkinson said Moten is the perfect coach to lead the club forward in its inaugural 2012 NEAFL season.

“Roger has the ability to work with and fast-track our talent and he has proven this over the past three seasons,” Wilkinson said.

“His preparation is second to none in Sydney football and he is well equipped to move the Club into NEAFL football.”

While SUANFC recognises there is plenty of hard work ahead of its first NEAFL game, the Club will focus on recruiting a balanced group of players as it looks to make an impact in its first season in the NEAFL.

Sydney University has developed a thorough NEAFL project management plan and with the support of SUSF is well ahead of schedule.

Moten said he is looking forward to the 2012 NEAFL season.

“Promotion to the NEAFL brings SUANFC forward into a new era of team expectation and individual professionalism,” Moten said.

“Personally, I’m excited about the challenges associated with this move, and the opportunity to test my coaching abilities at a higher level.”

The Club is delighted to have Moten on board for a fourth year, providing continuity and the opportunity to build on the already solid platform he has created over the past three seasons.
