NSW/ACT Youth Girls begin campaign

By Charlotte Mitchell

The fast pace and physically demanding match demonstrated just how far both teams have progressed in skill development since last year’s championships.

The NSW/ACT side battled hard through each quarter, never giving in and gaining momentum and confidence as the game went on.

The standout performances in the NSW/ACT team came from Wollongong Saints representatives Maddy Collier and Eleri Morris, along with Riverina ruckman Bethanie Durham.

Jodie Hicks won plenty of the ball and Eloise O’Brien showed why she is a player to watch as the week continues.

The coaching team admitted that final score certainly wasn’t a reflection on the quality of the actual game, and there is now a buzz around the team and the impressive progress NSW/ACT has made.

Despite the loss, the spirit in the squad remains motivated and positive as they look forward to this afternoon’s game, which will see them play Victorian Metro at 2pm.
