The Northern States Cup is contested by the leading Under-14 high school sides from NSW/ACT, Queensland, and the Northern Territory. Now in its sixth year, the Cup provides a pathway for these schools to compete at a higher level of representative football.

The 2013 competition was contested by four schools: The aforementioned Palm Beach Currumbin, Dripstone High School (Northern Territory), Knox Grammar (NSW, Sydney Swans Zone Champions), and the Patrician Brothers College of Blacktown (NSW/ACT State Under-14 Champions, GWS GIANTS ZONE Champions).

A round robin format saw each school play three games on Friday 20 September at the Macquarie University Sports Fields. Palm Beach Currumbin went undefeated in this preliminary round, with Dripstone securing second place. Knox Grammar was placed third and Patrician Brothers fourth.

Sunday 22 September saw the final played at Blacktown International Sports Park, in which Palm Beach Currumbin proved too strong for Dripstone and winning the match 14.12.96 to 2.0.12. It was the fourth time in six years that the school has taken out the Northern States Cup.
