News from the North Coast

During the first school term, North Coast multicultural and primary school students participated in a number of Auskick programs around the region:

  • 28 Multicultural students from a variety of schools participated in a six-week after-school program at the Bray Street fields in Coffs Harbour.
  • All Year 3 – 6 students (122) at Bayldon Public School completed a six-week in-school Auskick program
  • 19 Year 3– 6 students at Bonville Public School elected to participate in a six-week in-school Auskick program·
  • 16 Year 3 – 5 students at Coffs Harbour Christian Community School chose to take part in a six-week in-school Auskick program·
  • 27 kindergarten to Year 2 students from Kororo Public School chose to take part in a six-week after-school Auskick program·
  • 27 Sawtell Public School students elected to participate in a six- week after-school Auskick program·
  • 45 Mary Help of Christians students took part in a six-week after-school Auskick program.

The main aim of each program was to encourage students to play AFL and participate in the upcoming North Coast Junior Competition.

Grafton will be the central focus of next term’s Auskick programs, with Grafton Public School, Westlawn Public School and St. Andrews Christian School set to be offered to participate.

Bishop Druitt College will be the first North Coast high school to participate in an Introduce-AFL program in term two

The next Auskick Gala day will be held on Sunday the 19th of May at Burdett Park, Bellingen.

Yamba PS share in Paul Kelly Cup success

Yamba Public school was the winners of both the boys and girls Paul Kelly Cup North Coast regional knockout carnivals.

Yamba Public School and Narranga Public School shared the title in the Girl’s tournament while Coffs Habour Public School took out the Open competition.

The four teams will be involved in a series of training camps before facing the winners of the Port Macquarie and Macleay Valley regions.

The Paul Kelly Cup is a primary school carnival targeted at Year 5 and 6 students to play AFL and register for their local club.

The high school version of the Paul Kelly Cup is the Swans Cup which will take place from the 6th to the 10th of May.

The North Coffs Kangaroos are unable to provide a canteen for the 7th and the 10th of May. If your club is interested in providing a canteen, contact Matthew Crawley at Matthew.Crawley@aflnswact.com.au

AFL NSW/ACT has introduced School Sport Star Certificates which will provide new players with free registration for the 2013 season.
