Marsh Community Series Fixture Released

The AFL has today announced the fixture for the 2020 Marsh Community Series, with Blacktown International Sportspark and Robertson Oval (Wagga Wagga) hosting the New South Wales region’s two Marsh Community Series matches for 2020.

Each club will play two matches in the Marsh Community Series with all teams playing in the final week to ensure equal preparation leading into Round 1 and all clubs have a minimum of a seven day break.

All matches will be broadcast live on Fox Footy and through the official AFL App thanks to Telstra.

We will see the first Sydney Derby of the year at Blacktown International Sportspark when the GIANTS and Sydney Swans meet on Saturday, 29 February 2020 at 4.10pm.

Then it’s a trip to the heartland of southern NSW for the GIANTS as they take on the reigning Premiers Richmond in a Grand Final re-match at Robertson Oval in Wagga Wagga.

It will be a home game for former Wagga Wagga resident Harry Himmelberg as well as his fellow Riverina talents Jacob Hopper (Leeton), Zac Williams (Narrandera), Matt Flynn (Narrandera), Jeremy Finlayson (Culcairn), Harry Perryman (Collingullie) and Zach Sproule (Albury).

Sydney’s second and final pre-season hitout will fall on Monday, March 9 when the Swans travel to Hobart to take on North Melbourne at Kingston Twin Ovals at 1:40pm.

AFL General Manager of Broadcasting Travis Auld made the announcement at Ikon Park in Carlton.

“Our two objectives for the pre-season fixture is to give clubs the right opportunity to prepare ahead of the season and to take the matches to the regional and suburban grounds.” Mr Auld said

“The regional matches give fans the opportunity to see the elite players up close.”

“The Marsh Community Series celebrates the entire AFL community: the local clubs, businesses and people who support and love our game. The series is about bringing people together through the power of footy.”
