Magic year at Blacktown

They qualified for finals and placed second in their first year within the Sydney AFL. However, it is perhaps their work off the field that has been just as impressive.

Hailing from Western Sydney, where participation in the sport of Australian Football becoming more prominent, ‘The Magic’ has facilitated great demand and increasing numbers of new players to the game. 

In 2013, a second team was created and they were also recognised as the first NSW/ACT club to reach Gold level in the Swisse AFL Quality Club Program.

Many of their new players have never played the game before and through a collective effort from the players, president, club, committee and all other family and friends in the club they have attempted to create not only a club, but a culture and family in which outsiders can be welcomed and enjoy the game of Australian Football.

During August the Blacktown Magic submitted a video entry in the 2013 Swisse AFL Quality Club of the Year competition. 

The video showcases the people, passion, health and happiness that make the club great.

Their video entry received the most number of votes and has therefore seen them awarded as the 2013 Swisse AFL Quality Club of the Year.  As the winning entry they will receive:

–          2 tickets to the Brownlow;
–          2 return flights and accommodation;
–          $5,000 cash;
–          $1,000 Swisse Voucher; and
–          The Ultimate Sportsmans’ Night

The winning video entry gives you a brief insight into the club and those involved (both players and others behind the scenes) and show you the family that is “The Magic!”
