Junior ANZAC Day clash in Sydney
From 1:05pm at Waratah Oval on April 27 the U15 Bombers and ‘Pies will go head to head in a commemorative ANZAC Day fixture.
Wests/Newtown normally wear Swans jumpers, but the club has kindly agreed to don Magpies strips for the day in homage to the most famous rivalry in football.
After seeking advice from NSW RSL on the most respectful way to conduct the event, there will be a ceremony before the first bounce, lasting about 10 minutes.
The two teams will line up on the ground and spectators will stand while the ode is read, the last post will be played, one minute silence will be observed, before the rouse and national anthem.
In a first for the expanded underage league, an ANZAC Medal will be presented to the player judged best afield by the umpires in this game.
Any current or former service personnel who would like to be involved in any way with the commemorative event should contact the Miranda Bombers Football Club.
