Hiscox smashes AFL Draft Combine record

Hiscox, who played in the NSW/ACT RAMS side at this year’s Under-18 Championships, ran a 9.18 to set a new all-time record for draft combine.

The previous record was held by Josh Kelly, the number two pick in the 2013 National Draft, ran a 9.32 at last year’s combine. Kelly now plays for the GWS GIANTS, and may face Hiscox soon – with the midfielder nominated by the Sydney Swans to the academy bidding meeting to be held next week.

Hiscox also ran the equal-best beep test time at the Combine, a 16.1 alongside South Australian Caleb Daniel. This score matches Premiership winning Hawthorn player Bradley Hill’s score in 2011, and is the second best of all time to another Hawthorn player, Billy Hartung.

From Newtown in the inner west of Sydney, Hiscox started his football career with the Glebe Greyhounds, and progressed through to AFL Sydney Under-18 Premier Division playing for Sydney University when he was just 16.

Following his standout performances with Sydney Uni, he was selected in the NSW/ACT RAMS representative team in 2013 and 2014. He has also played a number of games as a top-up in the NEAFL with the Swans Reserves during the past two seasons.
