GIANTS heading to ACT for Community Camp

The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have announced they will hold their Australia Post AFL Community Camp in Canberra on December 4 and 5.

GIANTS Co-Captain Phil Davis said the players were looking forward to the opportunity to meet local fans and members in Canberra in the lead up to the 2013 season.

“Canberra is the home of the GIANTS and it’s a great chance for all of us to get out in the community and engage with our supporters,” said Davis.

“It’s important for us to take the time to visit local schools and hospitals, do clinics with kids and give back to the people that make this game great and hopefully have some fun along the way.

“Canberra is an integral part of the GIANTS and was the scene of our first ever win against Gold Coast at Manuka Oval this year.

“We really appreciate the support that we have in Canberra and encourage everyone to become a member in 2013 and enjoy what should be four fantastic matches in the ACT.”

The GIANTS will play Essendon in the first ever night match at Manuka Oval in the NAB Cup on Friday March 8.

They will then play St Kilda in the firstAFL Premiership match under lights at Manuka Oval in round three on April 13, followed by the Gold Coast in round five and the Western Bulldogs in round 15.

The Australia Post AFL Community Camps will feature more than 800 AFL players and take the game to regional and rural communities across Australia, as well as overseas.

The GIANTS will be the first AFL club to hold their Australia Post Community Camp ahead of the 2013 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

Australia Post General Manager Community Relations Andrea Pearman said the Community Camps were an important part of Australia Post’s commitment to give local communities, particularly in regional and rural areas, access to experiences that they don’t usually have.

“Taking the big league to regional and rural Australia and providing them with opportunities to meet their favourite AFL players and clubs is a great way to create interaction and participation within local communities,” she said.

2013 GIANTS Memberships are now available and start from just $25. Visit gwsgiants.com.au or call 1300 GIANTS (442687) to Stand Tall with the GIANTS in 2013.
