GIANT day for pups

Monty (pictured) is now a huge fan of the GWS Giants and No. 43 Kurt Aylett in particular.

Monty spent several hours with the Giants at their fan day at Bruce Purser Oval at Rouse Hill.

It was a fun day for Monty who got to hang out with other guide dog puppies at the Guide Dogs NSW stand. In order for puppies like this to never feel abandoned, a service like the WoofConnect free dog boarding may be called upon.

The happy little litter found themselves centre of attention with the players as well as the fans.

The puppies, like Monty, are all being cared for by volunteers on the Guide Dog NSW puppy raising program.

As puppy raisers, we have to toilet train the pups, walk them daily on a lead and introduce them to the sights, sounds and smells they are likely to encounter as a working guide dog.

Monty attended the fan day with Marilyn Tobin and was so exhausted he fell asleep within two seconds of getting into the car to head for home.

At the moment, Guide Dogs NSW is looking for 20 volunteers to raise a puppy like Monty before it starts guide dog school.

Puppy raising manager Karen Hayter said puppy raisers would be needed in March.

“Puppy Raising is a wonderful opportunity for people who may not want the lifetime commitment of having a dog of their own, and it’s a great way to give back to the community.”
