Dockers proud of facilities upgrade

The Lake Macquarie Dockers football club will start their 2012 season with brand new facilities including two coaches boxes, a timekeepers box and a portable scoreboard following the completion of a $33,000 infrastructure project.

After securing a $10,000 grant from the Joss Group and AFL NSW/ACT Community Facilities Grant in 2011, the Lake Macquarie Dockers have finally had the opportunity to reveal the completed projects to AFL NSW/ACT General Manager Tom Harley and Facilities the team.

AFL NSW/ACT General Manager Tom Harley met with representatives from the club as well as Lake Macquarie Council officials Narelle Reichert and Greg Weir to inspect the new facilities.

“It’s fantastic to see grassroots football clubs being given the opportunity to access funding with help from the Joss Group and AFL NSW/ACT,” Harley said.

“The Dockers will benefit from their improvements across all levels of the club.”

The Lake Macquarie Dockers were recently moved into the premier division of the local Black Diamond AFL league after a review of the divisional structure ahead of the 2012 season. The six premier division teams are:  Newcastle City, Cardiff, Terrigal Avoca, Warners Bay, Killarney Vale and Lake Macquarie.
