Community Legend: Wayne Phillips

Affectionately know as ‘Tank’, Wayne has been the President of the junior club at Grafton for over eight years, doing a power of work across the entirety of the club, from junior level through to seniors.

Wayne goes above and beyond the call of duty by assisting junior players to get to and from training as well as looking after the club’s operations as a hard-working President.

In 2015 Wayne also put in some ‘overtime’ to secure new junior umpires and give them their start in AFL.

Wayne Phillips is an extremely valuable member of both the Grafton and North Coast AFL communities and is another perfect example of a Community Legend working tirelessly out of the spotlight to make sure young players get their chance to shine on the field every weekend.

Each week during the regular season AFL NSW/ACT will identify and recognise a local Community Legend from one of our community Leagues. Volunteers play a vital role within our game and without them community football simple doesn’t happen.

AFL NSW/ACT would like to thank all of our community volunteers for their ongoing commitment to our game.
