Community Legend: Max Avery

Max has been a member of the AFL South Coast senior’s management committee for the past 11 consecutive years.

Max has held a number of positions on the executive for the entire 11 years including registrar, vice president and acting president on three separate occasions.

He is the current senior chair and has fulfilled this position for the last two consecutive seasons.

Max goes above and beyond in his commitment to AFL South Coast senior football and is a true stalwart of the game.

Max is well known in the local community for his no-nonsense approach to footy. He simply gets the job done and expects little in return.

His contributions to community football span over two decades and he has been instrumental in the growth of the game of AFL in the Illawarra region.

Spend a few minutes with Max and you can sense his unwavering passion for the game and his undying love of the Sydney Swans.

A lifelong supporter of the Bloods, he has never been shy in proclaiming his love of all things Red and White.

Max is a team player and always acts in the best interests of the game and his local community.

Each week during the regular season AFL NSW/ACT will identify and recognise a local Community Legend from one of our community Leagues.

Volunteers play a vital role within our game and without them community football simply doesn’t happen.

AFL NSW/ACT would like to thank all of our community volunteers for their ongoing commitment to our game.
