Community Camps spread far and wide
The AFL has announced the locations for the 2012 Australia Post AFL Community Camps which will see the Sydney Swans travel to regional NSW and Sydney metro while GWS GIANTS will visit Canberra.
The Australia Post AFL Community Camps will see more than 800 AFL players take the game to regional and rural communities across Australia to give football fans of all ages the chance to meet their heroes.
The AFL stars will conduct training sessions and visit schools, nursing homes and hospitals, to bring together individuals and communities, irrespective of backgrounds and beliefs as well as promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
National and International Development General Manager Andrew Dillon said with 18 AFL clubs, the AFL’s reach is now even wider.
“The annual camps are a highlight of the year for many football fans that don’t have the opportunity to see their football idols every week during the season,” he said.
Executive General Manager Mail Services Steve Ousley said the Australia Post AFL Community Camps were a great way to support young Australians and help to build united communities across the country.
“Australia Post is proud to be able to give back to the communities where we operate and our people live and work,” said Mr Ousley.
