Celebs set for Reclink Community Cup

Now in its fourth year in Sydney, the Reclink Community Cup raises funds for Reclink Australia, a non-profit organisation which provides sports and art programs for those experiencing disadvantage.
Established 21 years ago in Melbourne the match is now an institution, regularly attracting more than 12,000 fans to watch the likes of Paul Kelly and Dan Sultan.
The day’s showpiece is a match between the Western Walers (musicians) and the Sydney Sailors (media personalities).
This year’s teams boast names such as Mark Evans (AC/DC), Anthony Albanese (Federal Member for Grayndler) and Triple J’s Matt Okine and Alex Dyson.
The match promises to be hard fought with the Walers desperate to bring up their first win since the event’s 2012 inception.
A full roster of local junior footy pre-game will include the inaugural Reclink Inner West Girls Footy Challenge – the annual curtain raiser between Glebe/Newtown and Drummoyne/Willoughby in the U/14 Youth Girls competition.
A $5 donation at the gate will ensure a day of family and pet-friendly fun for a worthy cause. Food, drinks and live music will be available at the venue while 2SER will broadcast the game live for those unable to get to the ground.
An Anthony Albanese DJ set at the Newtown Social Club this Friday 29th will warm punters up for the weekend’s activity. The Newtown Social will also host the post-match function on Sunday evening.
