Tarrant gains All-Australian selection

Western Sydneys’ Brenna Tarrant has been named in the defensive line of the 2019 NAB AFL Women’s Under-18 All-Australian side.

Following a string of strong performances during the 2019 NAB AFL Women’s Under-18 Championships, Tarrant is the sole representative in the team from the New South Wales and ACT region.

With the Championships wrapping up two weeks ago, Tarrant says the wait to see if she had been selected was tough, but worth it.

“I’m ecstatic,” said Tarrant.

“I was on edge for the past week hoping that I’d make the team, so to get the call that I was selected left me in tears. I’m thrilled to make the team.”

Currently playing in the AFL Sydney competition with the East Coast Eagles, Tarrant has been a part of the AFL NSW/ACT Talent Pathway for four years and credits the program with her development.

“The Talent Pathway certainly helped me improve.

“Each year that went past in the program, I saw my skills and those around me skills’ improve drastically.”

Tarrant’s Eastern Allies teammate, Mia King from Tasmania was also named in the side.
