AFL’s White Ribbon Support

White Ribbon is the world’s largest male-led movement to end men’s violence against women, with the annual White Ribbon Day celebrating the culmination of the annual campaign and recognising the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

White Ribbon Day (25 November) also signals the start of the 16 Days of Activism to Stop Violence against Women, which ends on Human Rights Day (10 December).

White Ribbon Australia seeks to change the attitudes and behaviours that lead to and perpetuate men’s violence against women, by engaging boys and men to lead social change, and AFL NSW/ACT, along with Sydney Swans and GWS GIANTS, are firm supporters of the initiative.

Last year, the two teams played off for the inaugural White Ribbon Cup – first in Round 1 at ANZ Stadium, and again in Round 16 at the SCG – with the Swans currently holding the prize.

The next instalment of the clash between the cross-city rivals will again come in the season’s opening round, with the sides meeting at the newly-named GIANTS Stadium on Saturday March 15 2014.

While the GIANTS and Swans will fight tooth and nail to take bragging rights on-field, both clubs can agree wholeheartedly on supporting the cause of White Ribbon.

Tickets for the White Ribbon Cup match will go on sale in early 2014.
