AFL SportsReady State Final

The AFL SportsReady State Cup Final will be held at Blacktown International Sportspark, Sydney on Wednesday.

The first of its kind in NSW/ACT will see the Swans Cup winners taking on the top teams in the GIANTS Cup. The overall champions will then be named the state’s best AFL school for 2011.

Kicking off the day will be the girls under-15 final between Hunter Sports High (Gateshead, Hunter) and Kildare Catholic College (Wagga Wagga).

The following match will see the girls open final between Maitland Grossmann High (Hunter) and Erindale College (Canberra).

The afternoon matches will be between Killarney Heights (Sydney’s North Shore) and Mater Dei Catholic College (Wagga Wagga) for the under-16 title.

While Woolooware High School (Sydney South) and Finley High School (Western Riverina) will play for the coveted open’s crown.

AFL Schools and Universities Coordinator Mark Ayers said it is a fantastic achievement to reach the AFL SportsReady State Cup Final.

“Congratulations to all teams for making it through to the final of the AFL SportsReady State Cup final,” Ayers said.

“This year’s event was the biggest of its kind with over 120 schools participating throughout the seven regions in NSW/ACT and two competitions run in the Sydney Swans and GWS GIANTS zones.

“It all comes down to Wednesday now where only one team can be crowned the best school in NSW/ACT for their division.

“Best of luck to all teams and I look forward to an even bigger competition in 2012.”

To make the day even memorable for the participating schools will be an opportunity to meet the GWS GIANTS and watch them train.
