AFL NSW/ACT represented in peak body

AFL NSW/ACT Planning and Operations Manager Joseph La Posta has been elected to the NSW Sports Federation Board of Directors.

AFL NSW/ACT is delighted to announce that Joseph La Posta, AFL NSW/ACT Planning & Operations Manager, has been elected as a Director on the New South Wales Sports Federation Board for a two year term.

The NSW Sports Federation is the industry body for sport in New South Wales. The federation is an independent not-for-profit organisation representing NSW sporting organisations as The Voice of Sport. Their members include state sporting organisations, sports associations, disability sporting organisations, sports academies, councils, industry bodies and sports enthusiasts.

La Posta said he was pleased to join a distinguished group of sporting professionals.

“I’m very humbled to be elected on this board and join fellow Directors, many whom are highly regarded within the New South Wales sporting industry,” he said.

“The opportunity to advocate, share key relationships and leading practices with other sports in NSW is really exciting and a challenge I will embrace.”

The Federation recognises that the sports industry faces many challenges and endeavours to work closely with members for the benefit of sport in New South Wales. The Federation serves the New South Wales sporting community by:

ƒ. Advocating a case for sport to State Government, media and the public;

ƒ. Recognising the achievements and contributions of sports people;

ƒ. Providing opportunities to create and share knowledge as a means of promoting sport and to assist sporting organisations to build their capacity.

La Posta’s role at AFL NSW/ACT’s is to lead the infrastructure portfolio which has involved restructuring its workforce to achieve better outcomes for Australian Rules Football. Building relationships with State & Local Governments is a key element of his role as is the securing of sponsorships for grass roots development.
