AFL gala day a hit with students

Penrith’s Jamison Park hosted the first ever Christian Schools Sports Association AFL gala day on Wednesday, August 25 for the nine participating teams.

It was a fantastic opportunity for the schools to come together to play AFL in a fun and safe environment while they vied for ultimate success.

In the end it was the Wycliffe Christian School which defeated Cedars Christian School 27 to 8 in the final to take out the opens age group.

In the Under 15s, Mt Annan Christian College was too strong for Toongabbie Christian School in the grand final.

Mt Annan was the standout team all team but all sides had an enjoyable gala-day which also introduced students to AFL for the very first time.

The success of the day will hopefully see an ongoing competition locally to provide schools with an opportunity to play Australian Football.

The following schools competed in their respective age group.
