AFL Centre of Excellence Program

The South West Sydney, Western Sydney and Western Region Regional Academies provide high quality development opportunities for talented young athletes within their local regions. These Academies provide scholarships for young athletes across a wide range of sports diciplines.

In partnership with AFL NSW/ACT and the GWS GIANTS, these Academies are introducing new AFL programs for young players between 13 and 14 who meet specific selection criteria. Talented young players will enter their respective Academy’s AFL Centre of Excellence Program that will provide technical, educational and personal development opportunities over an intensive seven week period.

Open trials will be conducted at each of the four Centre of Excellence venues with highly accredited coaching staff guiding squads of 30 players at each Centre, and facilitating access to the GWS GIANTS and the AFL NSW/ACT resources.
