Family connections in football are not unusual, with many siblings and even parents playing together.

The AFL North junior competition took it a bit further this season when the under-15 competition had three sets of twins lining up at the weekend.

There was Jesse and Shaun MacDonald from Northern Beaches, as well as North Coffs twins Mitch and Cody Papley, and finally the Sawtell siblings Jordan and Taylor Perks.

And the boys can play too. All three sets of twins were selected earlier in the year to play in the AFL North Coast representative team.

It is not unusual on a Sunday to see each of these sets of twins playing closely together, always supporting each other in the action, whether it be shepherding or kicking to each other.

It must be the twin connection that the brothers have, because they seem to be able to read each other’s games more so than any of their other teammates.

The Perks brothers had the added distinction this year of playing in a premiership team.

They were on the field together when the Saints beat Coffs Swans by 19 points in the recent grand final at BCU International Stadium.
