Brock-Burrum Saints rally for Leukaemia

The original target was set at $2000, fairly conservative but achievable.

With the support of the Burrumbuttock and Brocklesby communities, the fundraiser, held on August 16, was a huge success.

A raffle was run and donations were collected during Saints game against Henty and the main event, the big Shave, was held at the Farmers Inn Hotel in Burrumbuttock later in the day.

As well as family and friends, a number of players and one brave netballer were soon “sporting” new hairstyles and one footballer opted instead for a body wax, at $10 a strip. In all, an additional $1400 was raised on the night.

A number of Brock-Burrum senior Saints players have since, very generously, donated all or part of their day’s match payments and, together with family, friends and the wider community, the original target was far exceeded.

The final tally is yet to be determined, but more than $10000 has been raised so far.

The Gates family thank all those involved from the Brock-Burrum Saints community for their support of Anna and the Leukaemia Foundation.
