20 jumpers in 20 days: #5

This year the Hornsby Berowra Eagles began an initiative to increase their support of two local high schools.

Whilst there was some history the club felt some invigoration was definitely required.

The original scope was to support their involvement in AFL using the Swans Cup as a mechanism to do so.

To this end the club hoped to convert the Swans Cup participants into Hornsby Berowra Eagles club players.

The two schools involved were St Leos Catholic College and Asquith Boys High School.

Varying levels of support were required from the club to ensure both schools transitioned from the early narrative to actually entering the competition and participating.

St Leos Catholic College

St Leos required extensive support form the Hornsby Berowra Eagles football club to get them to ELS hall for the Swans Cup. The Hornsby Berowra Eagles provided:

•    Communication to the proposed participants and the parent group before during and on completion of the competition
•    Planning and organisation of all associated events – trials , coaching sessions, game days
•    A after school trial and team selection process
•    Distributed NAB school auskick certificates
•    Distributed play AFL flyers
•    Coaching personnel for trial and team selection process
•    Coaching  personnel for after school sessions (6 session with 3 coaches)
•    Equipment for coaching and trial sessions
•    Jerseys for both teams
•    Coaches for both teams on Swans cup day

The HBE firmly believes their concerted efforts assisted in getting St Leos across the line and subsequently entering two teams in the Swans Cup competition.

Asquith Boys High School

Asquith Boys High School has been supported by the club for a number of years.

This year the club provided coaching resources in the lead up to the Swans Cup competition.

The club also assisted with the schools trial and selection process.

The Hornsby Berowra Eagles are currently in discussions with St Leos in relation to term 1 2015.
