NSW duo among Auskick’s elite
Cian Cameron-Gleeson, who plays for Newtown Swans in Sydney’s inner west,was the AFL’s Round 8 nominee, with Moore Park Tiger Rory Davey (pictured), from Bondi, following in his footsteps.
When interviewed by Channel 7’s Hamish McClachlan Cameron-Gleeson explained he’s a “mad Sydney Swans fan,” with Adam Goodes a particular idol, because “he’s quite fast.”
The talented pair are now part of a very select group, and they’re sure to be the envy of their football-loving peers.
22 Auskickers who best reflect dedication, enthusiasm, teamwork and passion will travel to Melbourne to participate in a money-can’t-buy experience, including Cameron-Gleeson and Davey.
They will walk in the 2014 Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade; play on the MCG on Grand Final day and present medals to the 2014 premiership players.
In addition to this experience of a lifetime, both boys are now in the running to win $5,000 in a NAB Reward Saver account, and have Geelong Captain and three-time premiership player Joel Selwood as a personal footy mentor in 2015.
Moore Park Tigers NAB AFL Auskick Coordinator, David Scilly, said the competition was extremely popular amongst the kids last year and they are all eager to be nominated in 2014.
“This is such a fantastic initiative by NAB to recognise the youngest stars of the game,” Scilly said.
“This Award looks beyond the best player on the ground; and instead emphasises the importance of being a good teammate and looking out for others.”
NAB has been proudly Footifying Australia for over 10 years through NAB AFL Auskick, the NAB AFL Rising Stars Program and NAB Challenge.
In 2014, NAB will again Footify over 180,000 children and their parents as they head to one of 2,800 Auskick centres around the country to participate in NAB AFL Auskick.
