Redlands vs Waverley 1 – Year 5/6

The match was still up for grabs at half-time, with Redlands holding a narrow lead of just three goals at the long break, before a strong second-half saw them record a solid win.

This was in large part to the efforts of Liam Dow & Oliver Reed.

The best on ground player for the victors was Harry Garrett, closely followed by Gus Miller, and Nick Goerner.

Ethan Lane deserved kudos as he kicked one of the great goals of the match whilst Josh Green showed what was required in terms of work ethic by impacting on contest after contest.

Less than half of Waverley’s team have played competitive Australian football before, but they acquitted themselves well and showed an enthusiasm for the contest.

For Waverley, Ben Walton, Ryan Breslin and Noah Mitchell showed high-quality skills, while Rex Crabb, Jack Harris and Ethan Ehlers also shone.

Knox vs Waverley 2 – Year 5/6

Max Geddes was also strong in the contest and demonstrated his strong kicking skills throughout this match.

Matt Baynham is new to the game but he took some telling marks.

Cranbrook was also well served by Caleb Henty-Brown, Xavier Hamilton, Will Butterfield and Angus Watts.

Yet on the scoreboard Waverley held sway and had a few players in their team that Cranbrook didn’t have an answer for.

Josh Tighe was arguably best on ground, whilst other players to stand out for the Knox team were Josh Tighe, Charles Sennitt, and James Bennett.

A big contributor for Waverley was Adam Lawther who ran here, there and everywhere, taking a courageous goal saving mark at full-back, obtaining clearances out of the midfield and later setting up some attacking play that led to a goal.

Tom Sharpe (2 goals) and William Tyson (1 goal) were the main goal scorers for Waverley.

Nick Blakey was courageous and took it up to the key Knox midfielders but later incurred an ankle injury that took him out of the game.
